CCS began its season well.  A 10-1 Victory over a well coached team of Faith Baptist.  Leading the way on the Hill was Nathan Roth dealing 5 strikeouts.  Leading off in the first inning, Mark Fitzgerald belted a ground ruled double to start the game, followed by two singles from Nathan Roth and Mark Stover who drove in the first run.  Joey Aliano a new player to the program and a great pick-up drove in two more runs in the first inning with a 2RBI double, followed by an RBI sacrifice fly by Josh Stover putting CCS ahead in the first 5-0.   Nathan Roth Struck out three batters in the first inning after walking two.  The second inning was as exciting with CCS putting 3-more on the board with towering home run by Aaron Roth, and with his second double Joey Aliano drove in Mark Stover who walked and was later brought in with a hit and RBi by the freshman starter Josh Stover.  Nathan Roth struck out two to quickly close out the second inning.  Cornerstone scored its 9th run in the third inning with a homerun by Mark Fitzgerald.  Faith Baptist scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning after Fitzgerald walked three batters, and a throw over to first base went into the fence scoring Faith Baptist's only run.  Fitzgerald who came in to relieve Nathan Roth was eventaully relieved by Aaron Roth in the 4th inning who dealt four strikeouts in his 2 2/3 innings pitched.  In the seventh inning, CCS manufactured its 10th run with a lead off single by Fitzgerald, who eventually stole second after the throw to first went off his leg and was moved over to third when Nathan Roth did a great job pushing a fielders choice to second base.  Aaron Roth drove Fitzgerald in with a grounder to the 2nd baseman of Faith Baptist.  Mark Stover closed the game strong with two strikeouts in the 7th inning.  Combined, CCS dealt Faith Baptist with a combined NO HIT GAME!  After the game coach Dean Drulias commented on the win:  "Im proud of the way the guys played" said Drulias.  "Faith Baptist is a well coached team, and I am confident even though they are a young squad, they will only get better, and we wish them great success this year".  "Our defense was strong today as well as the bats".  "With some good catches by Glen Walker in left field, some pick picks by Nick Alpers at first, solid pitching, I was proud of the team".  "Our hitting was strong, and I was expecially proud of the fact the guys manufactured runs.  We executed well".  CCS goes to 1-0 and competes away against another good squad on Tuesday in Hillcrest Granada Hills at 3:15pm.  Good luck Eagles!
